It depends.  Epic on the private store is 149.00 - 50 (save50) - 30 (srt rebate) - 125 (credit for moving your number over) = oyu are getting 56 dollars back and getting the phone for free if you get it through the studentrate private store.  There are two advantages to the amazon deal - 1 it is cheap up front, 2 if you are not moving your number the net out of pocket is less.

In either case -- if you purchase the phone and the service using our links we will apply the monthly discount.  hope this helps.

This is a great breakdown.  Thanks for the info.  How come the sprint link is not available and we have to fill out a form.

The sprint private store link was available on our site to members we had to remove it per request of Sprint -- but if yo ufill out the form here -- wireless.studentrate.com you should get the link you are qualified for.  we automated the process.  It is one more step then normal

If I order a T-Mobile phone from Amazon, can I still call customer service after I get the phone and get the 10% discount?

No you can not.  If you are new to T-Mobile and would like to use the StudentRate discount the only way to do it is by calling T-Mobile. Call 866-464-8662 option 3 and give promo code 13997TMOFAV and this will get you a whole bunch of advantatges like waived activation and free car charger in addition to the 10% monthly discount.  If you use the Amazon link and get the device/service through that method T-Mobile may remove the discount later.  So be safe and use 866-464-8662 option 3 and give promo code 13997TMOFAV to get T-Mobile service.

Wait, do we have to order from T-Mobile just to get the discount? I talked with a Tmobile agent through chat and he told me they would apply it if I bought a phone from somewhere else since Tmobile doesn't carry the phone I want(only Best Buy and Amazon does), the Nexus S.

And is the Sprint one still 23%?

The Sprint discount is 15-23% depending on your school and you need to be a college student/employee.  T-Mobile one is what I received from the T-Mobile representative for StudentRate.

If I am month to month on Sprint, would I still be able to get a 15% discount without renewing my contract for another 2 years?

No you will not be able to do that as the migration will require a contract renewal, if you are month to month you may want to wait till another contract is in place.

The epic is no longer a penny.  Although still not bad at 29 bucks.
