is it true that guys are only friends with girls if they could see a possible hookup in the future? i really don't believe that but my friends always tell me a guy could never be just a friend to a girl, so sad

from what i understand, guys only think with their... well you know... and they don't want to deal with a girls feelings and emotions if they're not going to get anything out of it, they'd rather spend that time with the guys playing video games

There can only be one type of friend -- friend with benefits. If I have a female friend it is either she is not very attractive or attractive but not the type you would take home but would love to shag. And finally, attractive but does not give a sh*t about you so the only way you can get close to her to wait for the opportune moment is to be friends. And yes girls it is all about sex.

Allow me to pitch in my two cents on the matter of if a friendship between a girl and a guy is possible.
I believe it is absolutely possible for a guy to be a friends with a girl without having sex or other "benefits" in mind. Wither or not that friendship could potentially turn into a long term relationship as more than friends would depend on the individuals involved obviously.
I personally am 19 and a college guy who is reasonably successful in terms of jobs, academics, and having my own place and a new car. But I am also socially well connected and I have a lot of friends who are girls. I would probably say I have more friends who are girls than guys. And yes I am straight but it does not mean that every guy who makes friends with a girl is after sexual benefits or things along those lines and I speak from experience. And if you're thinking "Oh this is probably because he's in a relationship with a girl already then no. I am and have been single for a long time." So my point is that it is absolutely dependent on the individual and should not fall under a stereotype by gender.
Open to hearing all your thoughts.

i'd say it's possible. And lol at the part where ugly girls have a lot of guy friends. I'm not particularly ugly (not being narcissistic, but I do get hit on all the time - just trying to prove a point here) and the majority of my friends are guys. We joke and laugh about perverted stuff together....it's healthy set of friendships. And we ALL kinda joke and flirt with each other, so it's nothing. But i DO remember this one time when I met a guy that told me i was hot, and I'm not a shy person OR an a*****e, so I didn't totally blow him off. We ended up joking around and hanging out and what not, but when O realized that he really did only want to hook up with me, it was pretty awkward. Basically, it can go either way. But to the girls out there: aren't you also more inclined to talk to someone if they are attractive? Just saying. Nobody should be condemned here. Girls can think with their vaginas too.... they just don't let it show as much.

yes......but so are girls. guys really aren't the more flawed gender. i keep seeing all this stuff: "they think with their dicks" "they always judge".... its a bit much. honestly, when it comes to judging, girls are much worse. they like....NOTICE things, small things that just make people more insecure. I'm a girl and honestly I can't stand it. Yeah, guys do it too, but they really aren't all that bad. Which is why most of my friends are guys and I have like...2 good girl friends. Also, as a side note, there's generally a lot less drama attached to guys.

You may have a valid point there but if you only have guy friends or prefer to have guy friends i would say you have issues on other fronts you need to confront.

Well from personal experience I don't think it is entirely true, but I guess that really depends on how the guy. As for myself I do have more female friends then guys, but that's just always been mean. Most of the female friends I've had I've been platonic for YEARS!!!!! And never had thoughts about sleeping with them. But I've also had friends who I've had slept with literally just slept with NO SEXUAL CONTACT, which I've remained friends with no awkwardness. So I say it's very rare but plausible
