Hi,

I was reading some comments about the SR discount for Sprint as well as the links provided.
I'm still a little unclear on some things.
First of all, I would be a new customer. I priced the Everything Data Family plan on the Sprint website for two lines: unlimited messaging, unlimited data, 1500 shared minutes (it seemed this is the least expensive plan you could choose with unlimited data in order to get the Samsung Galaxy SII). The monthly bill came out to be $149.99. Even with a maximum 23% discount I would be paying $115.49 per month. My goal is to pay $100 per month for two lines with unlimited data. Is it possible to get the monthly bill bumped down to fit my budget? I could use less minutes for starters, but I don't know how flexible Sprint is with their plans. I just need some help clarifying some things before I drop $250 (199.99 Galaxy SII from Sprint website + $50 SII from Amazon Wireless) on phones.

Hope somebody replies, I noticed the sticky was posted in 2010, but I would really like to know if this deal is still on and whether it could be arranged to bring down the bill to fit my budget and my choice of phones. Thank you!

Does anyone work at Student Rate??? I've been trying to reach them for the last 3 months. I've sent numerous emails to the contact us page, sprint@studentrate.com, and somebody named Gina who I once had contact with before. I was told I would get a discount on my sprint bill if I just sent them my information. I did everything they requested and have yet to receive anything back from them. I started this process in January and have been trying to contact them since then. I am beginning to think I was promised something they could never deliver. Anybody else have any success with this site? Seems like a big waste of time.

Sorry about the lack of response from Gina as she is no longer with Studentrate.  As we have posted quite a few times about the sprint deal -- sprint has changed the way they qualify their customers for discounts and we have no way of knowing whether you qualify for the discount until after the discount is requested.  Please PM me using the forum with any specific questions and I will do my best to answer you.

Thanks for the response, however, considering there are hundreds of dollars required upfront and thousands over the course of the contract, I think the advertised discount shouldn't be a mystery. Does Sprint have a hotline that would have more details on this Student Rate discount? Is it just their customer service I could call? I wouldn't mind doing that.

I just visited the Sprint store in addition to calling their customer service. The student discount is no more than 10% -- but you need to have a Credit Union account. Also, the employer discount I would qualify for is 13%.

I didn't mention "Student Rate" since I figured a student discount would probably be the same. I could be wrong on that though. Is it at all possible for you to figure out the rate at this point before you submit the order? Could you look at a recently submitted order for instance?

I am also interested in this. Amazon Wireless has the Epic 4G cheap for new contracts, and I'll switch over as long as I can still get the 23% discount.

I ordered a white Epic 4g touch from Amazon (for a pennyDrool )and just sent in an e-mail to studentrate.  I will post an update later.  I'm hoping this goes well.  I've dealt with studentrate in the past when I ordered a Blackberry 8530 (through the old Sprint discount) and everything was great.

Thanks a lot. I look forward to hearing how things turn out.

Here's my little update: I got my phone one day earlier than I was supposed to-nice job amazon.  For anyone thinking of getting the Epic 4G Touch I highly recommend it.  The phone is lovely.  Just be sure to adjust the display since it chews up battery life.

About the discount: I'm not feeling very confident about it.  Actually, my lack of confidence has me thinking about returning the phone.  On Monday, I did notice that I had a credit on my account for the activation fee, but there is no noticeable discount on my bill.  I called a Sprint representative, and she could not tell me where the credit came from (either from the Amazon order, or Studentrate.com).

The Sprint rep told me that in order to verify that a discount had been applied to my account, I would have to visit sprint.com/verify.  That avenue did not work, and frankly I'm not willing to jump through hoops just to verify whether or not I have the discount.  I don't want to wait 2-3 billing cycles for something I'm not guaranteed.  The discount is the entire reason why I signed up for the contract.  If I don't get the discount, then I am returning the phone.  It's not like they give you 2-3 billing cycles to do returns.  You have 15 days (if I'm not mistaken).

I am going to e-mail studentrate to see if I got the discount.  If I don't get a response within a respectable amount of time AND see the discount reflected on my bill...well...bye bye shiny new phone.

Alexthemann,
I've PM'd you five times since you asked me to on March 9 w/o a response. Is there another way to contact you? I'm just trying to check on the sprint discount promised to me back in January.
Thank you,
Dan

I suppose I'll give up on this site. The time and energy I've wasted trying to simply contact someone has got me nowhere. A simple PM or post back from ANYBODY saying what I needed or even that I didn't qualify for the Sprint discount would be better than what I've gone through.
