VISA assigned my credit card limit without me having any say in it? WHy is this? What/'s normal?

Yeah they put a limit of 700 dollars on mine, i guess it depends on your age and if your a student and sh*t like that so you don't charge too much money, it actually really helps

if your a student and you dont have a ton of credit they will start out low (like 500-1000). However all you have to do is call the card company and tell them you want to change it - if your request isnt ridiculous they usually will allow it because they want your business.

forgot to mention that i just got a credit card with a limit of 3000 which i thought was really high for a college student - so it really does depend on the company.

I read somewhere that banks will not be issuing credit cards to college students is that true.

The new law which just went into effect Feb 1, 2010, mandates the financial institutions to ensure that the student under the age of 21 has the means to repay the debt or have it be co-signed.
